The Brains Behind the Operation: Meet Carter Helton!

When it comes to landscaping, a successful team doesn’t just begin and end with maintenance crews and sales managers. Often, those behind the scenes are the ones who make the biggest waves. Our new Controller, Carter Helton is a perfect example. Not everyone has a knack for digging into data or balancing numbers, but Carter has it all in spades.

For the past six months, Carter has been an integral part of the T. Lake crew, contributing his passion and expertise to the team. His experience in budgeting and cost control for construction projects is complemented by his degree in business administration with an emphasis on finance from Lee University. Additionally, his minor in Biblical studies brings a unique perspective to the team, reflecting his well-rounded education and passion for personal growth.

Carter quickly caught on to all of our unique software and procedures thanks to the dynamic duo: Beth Bozeman, Beth Nalley, and Tim Lake himself. Tim Lake generously mentions, “Carter has a lot of love and passion for data analytics and digging in. We like it and we really needed it.” We’re glad because someone needs to be a numbers guy in this industry!

As a result, Carter has quickly become the walking encyclopedia for any financial questions and concerns. He ensures bills are paid on time and advises on expenditures. He prepares T. Lakes' financial documents and actively participates in strategic planning. His natural flair for detail and analytics makes this a perfect pair.

At times implementing new software can be a real challenge but he’s got his team to back him up. Carter shares, “I love the people I work with and appreciate working for a company that treats their employees so well. We’re all working together to achieve a common goal.”

Having been initially from Eustis, Florida then growing up in Lexington, Kentucky, Carter didn’t always have his sights set on Dublin, GA. But now that he’s here, he doesn’t see himself going back. What can we say, the folks are friendlier here!

Carter isn’t ALL about numbers though, he loves spending time with his wife Hannah, and his 2-year-old son Max. And when the hot and humid temperatures in Georgia start to drop, you can find Carter enjoying the outdoors on the pickleball and basketball courts. You may even find him simply enjoying the leaves changing color on his favorite tree: the Oak!

Carter is stoked to be part of the T. Lake team. You don't have to take our word for it though, Carter leaves us with this thought: "T. Lake will get the job done right and will always treat you fairly!"
