A Permitting Puzzle Turned into a Full-Service Partnership

Two years ago, Clayco and CRG called with a problem:
They couldn’t get their site permitted.

The local jurisdiction wasn’t budging—landscape codes, tree preservation requirements, and arborist reviews were holding things up. That’s where we stepped in. From the start, this wasn’t your typical install. It was a relationship rooted in problem-solving, collaboration, and a shared commitment to making things happen.

The Solution: Bring in T.Lake

We came in as a partner, not a vendor.

  • We handled the permitting headaches—tree inventories, code compliance, and local walk-throughs.

  • We worked hand-in-hand with their landscape architects in Chicago and St. Louis to adapt plant palettes for Georgia’s climate.

  • We helped value-engineer the design to meet budget without sacrificing aesthetics.

And once we had the green light, we got to work on the ground.

Beyond Landscaping: Solving for the Gaps No One Wants

Most firms stop at shrubs and sod.
We stepped in where others stepped out.

The architect called us about flagpoles nobody wanted to touch. Then came smoker shelters. Then came a challenge: massive architectural planters originally spec’d from Finland (with a price tag to match). Our answer? Build them here.

We partnered with a local fabricator to engineer and construct these custom, heavyweight planters—built to last and built to budget. Structural footers, rebar cages, cantilevered supports—we handled it all. These weren’t just finishing touches; they were bold, sculptural features that defined the site.

From Code Name to Long-Term Commitment

Project Buffalo became Building C.
Building C became a maintained site.

Today, we’re proud to continue serving this property with weekly maintenance. It’s the perfect example of our Design-Build-Maintain model in action—where we’re there from permit to planting to post-install care. And yes, our crews still get family calls when folks drive past on the highway and spot our flagpoles waving proudly out front.

Tim’s Take

“We don’t just dig holes and plant shrubs. We solve problems. We step in when others won’t. From Scandinavian planters to 50-foot flagpoles, we’re the crew that fills the gaps—and we stick around after the ribbon is cut. That’s what long-term stewardship looks like.”
